Hospital Manager/HR Director
Laurie Colbert is the Hospital Manager/Human Resources Director at Florida Veterinary Referral Center & 24-hour Emergency Hospital (FVRC). Laurie received her bachelors’ degree from Assumption College in Worcester MA. After 10 years in the non-profit sector Laurie moved to Oregon where she was the Director of Production for a dot com, then to Conde Nast Publications in LA, working in sales and marketing. Most recently Laurie was the Human Resources Director for the largest privately owned health food store in the Mid-Atlantic region. In 2013 Laurie earned her SPHR and in early 2015 her SHRM-SCP. Having recently relocated to Southwest Florida Laurie’s favorite pastimes are exploring this beautiful area and entertaining frozen friends visiting from the north.
After many years in the field of retail, Jessica decided it was time for a change and moved to Southwest Florida from New Jersey in August 2001. Motivated by her lifelong love of animals, she accepted a receptionist position at a veterinary clinic in Naples where she worked for over five years. In July 2007, Jessica joined the Florida Veterinary Referral Center front desk team. While continuing to work as a receptionist, she also took on the position of Office Manager in January 2008. Nothing pleases her more than having a career where she can make a difference in the lives of people and their pets!
Veterinary Technical Supervisor- ER/ICU Service
Laura Delp is a Certified Veterinary Technician. She has an Associates of Science degree in Veterinary Technology and a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology with a minor in Biology – emphasis in Animal Behavior and Enrichment. Over the past 18 years she has worked as a veterinary technician and supervisor in veterinary specialty and emergency hospitals both in Pennsylvania and Florida.
In 2015 Ms. Delp accepted the position of Program Director for the Veterinary Technician Program at Heritage Institute, Ft Myers where she worked with the Director of Education as well as the Executive Director of the Institute to coordinate and schedule educators and their curriculum, as well as all manage all 140 students’ curriculum and activities, and reviews. She was responsible for the schools AVMA and USDA accreditation updates. In addition, she was proficient with the schools full curriculum and able to teach in all aspects. She accepted her current position at Florida Veterinary Referral Center in March 2017.
She has 4 rescue Chihuahua mixes and 2 cats.
Administrative & Marketing Coordinator
Sarah Benkstein received her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, with a focus in Marketing Management and Communication Studies, in 2010 from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. After working in the charter bus industry as well as the logistics and transportation industry, Sarah moved to southwest Florida in November 2014. She joined the team at Florida Veterinary Referral Center in December 2014.
In her spare time, Sarah enjoys going to the beach, traveling, cooking, and spending time with her two dogs, both pug/beagle mixes, Bugsy and Sully.
Alexandra first joined the team in 2007, just one year after FVRC first opened its doors. Initially, she worked with the reception team but shortly transitioned to working in ICU. She spent the next 8 years learning all she could about emergency and specialty care. In 2013, an opportunity arose for her to work on Florida’s east coast. She worked closely with two boarded Critical Care Specialists, both growing as an ER/ICU nurse and building upon what she learned from FVRC.
She returned to FVRC in 2014 to work in the ER/Critical Care department, and in the spring of 2016 was promoted to the role of Operations Assistant. A recent Barry University alumni, Alexandra majored in Business Administration and graduated Magma Cume. Her vast experience in ER/ICU and her studies in business administration are a perfect combination for her position. She focuses on operational protocol, organizational development and has a passion for strategic team building.
In her free time, she enjoys cinematography, reading and going to the beach. She and her fiancé have two Chihuahuas, and a cat named Seth.
Client Care Associate
Originally from New Hampshire, Jacqui has always been passionate about animals and people. Prior to her move to Florida, Jacqui owned and operated a horse stable in Londonderry, New Hampshire for 9 years. In 2003 she decided that she had had enough of the cold weather and moved to sunny SW Florida where she worked for 8 years as a Licensed Personal Financial Advisor.
Yearning for a career with animals again, Jacqui left financial advising in 2010 and began working in small animal general practice in the Fort Myers area. In January 2016, Jacqui joined the team at FVRC as a Veterinary Assistant in the Internal Medicine Department. In July 2016 she transitioned to her new position as Client Care Associate.
When not working, Jacqui enjoys spending time with her three children, fishing and playing on the farm with their horses. She has never known life without pets- she currently has five dogs, four horses, a rabbit, a guinea pig and a two cats.
