Florida Veterinary Referral Center is looking for an customer service professional with strong communication and client service skills, to work with the reception team performing a variety of clerical and public contact duties which facilitate the work of all hospital employees:

  • Able to quickly develop a rapport with a diverse group of clients on the phone or in the reception area
  • Considerable tact and diplomacy required. Ability to work with clients and patients in a professional, friendly, hospitable manner.
  • Requires strong client service skills. Specific contacts are with pet owners affected by a variety of problems, visitors, and other healthcare team members.
  • Take transfer/referral calls from new clients to verify the appropriate service and schedule appointments
  • Build relationships with referring veterinarians and clients (both internal and external)
  • Prepare new clients for their appointment including a request for records
  • Able to work with different software to input data, both written and spoken with an excellent level of accuracy
  • Self-drive to increase the client and patient experience to make it more pleasurable and make sure we are exceeding our client’s expectations.
  • Work well with all team members and ensure that your actions support the hospital, all the doctors, and the practice philosophy.
  • Willingness to work non-traditional hours, including nights, weekends and holidays

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE required (some on the job training will be necessary):

  • Ability to identify urgent questions that need to be passed to a technician or doctor
  • Knowledge of hospital procedures outlined in the employee manual as well as those that are implied (reasonable expectations).
  • Knowledge of spelling and the meaning of commonly used veterinary terminology in order to accurately enter specific information onto patient records.
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Knowledge of the procedures used for receiving, treating, and scheduling patients.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments. Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
  • Exhibit a strong understanding of services offered and assist in educating clients and answering basic questions regarding services or procedures
  • Support integration of a paperless medical record and integrate all paperless methods into daily work routine
